Is borosilicate glass heat-resistant?
2026-06-11
Absolutely, borosilicate glass is highly heat-resistant, which is exactly why it's used in our glass air fryers, laboratory glassware (like beakers),
and oven-safe baking dishes.
Key heat-resistant properties:
- Low thermal expansion- It expands very little when heated, so it resists cracking from sudden temperature changes.
- High thermal shock resistance-You can take it from a hot air fryer ( up to ~400F/200°C) and place it on a room-temperature counter without it shattering. However, avoid extreme shocks (e.g.,directly from 400F into cold water, 250F directly into cold water is safe.)
- Typical working range-Usually safe from about -40°C to 400°C(-40F to 752F), depending on the specific formulation.
A pratical note: While borosilcate is heat-resistant, it's still glass- it can break if dropped or if a hot surface touches something very cold and wet. So treat it with care, but rest assured, thermal stress from normal cooking won't be an issue.
